Week 16 Update - Championship Preview

OK boys, the dust has settled.

After a weekend of Monday Night miracles and Thursday Night Smackdowns – we're down to two. Two teams. One shot at the trophy.

This is why we do it. This is why we read the articles at 2 AM, watch the start/sit videos, and listen to all the damn podcasts that promise to give us an edge. All those years of heartbreak. All those seasons where you got so close to glory you could almost reach out and touch it, only to watch your team fall just short. All those "maybe next year" conversations that never seemed to come. Well, next year is now. This is your time. This is your chance to hoist the trophy on draft night, etch your name on its base, and remind Gangus that your championship does not have an asterisk. No more "almost." No more "maybe next season." It all comes down to this.

How We Got Here:

(#1) Greg 141.28 vs (#4) Scotty 135.68

Let's all give it up for Reagan's Raiders. Hell of a performance. After losing Malik Nabers early in the season, I'm sure even Scotty wouldn't have expected to sniff the playoffs. But he powered through, finished strong, and made a legit run at the championship.

And he came to play this week, putting up a very respectable 135.68 and having Greg on the ropes heading into Monday night. But there was one itty-bitty problem. And his name is Christian McCaffrey.

Greg needed 26 points from CMC on Monday Night Football, and the man delivered like he's been doing all season—posting his 4th game north of 30 points this year. That's what championship players do. They show up when it matters most.

But can we take a moment to discuss Scotty's coaching decision that might haunt him all offseason: benching Matthew Stafford for Jordan Love. Stafford had been on fire for weeks, carrying Scotty's Cinderella run since Week 10. And in the biggest game of the season, Scotty got in his own way. Jordan Love goes down with a concussion and posts just 3.78 points. Meanwhile, Stafford drops his highest-scoring game of the year (40.88 points) all while riding the pine. That's a 37-point swing and the difference between advancing and going home. It's a tough watch.

Scotty went down swinging, but in the end, CMC and Chase Brown carried Deer Hunter to the finish line. And now Greg has a unique opportunity to do what no league member has ever done...

Win his 4th... 2nd-place trophy.

(#2) Graham 193.16 vs (#3) Anthony 129.90

This match? Definitely didn't have the same drama. This one was over before it started.

Puka Nacua dropped 44.50 points on Thursday Night Football and basically ended Anthony's season in the first quarter. Graham never looked back, posting a historic 193.16 points, one of the highest scores in playoff history.

It's a tough loss for Anthony. After spending the majority of the season at the top, Panty's team had been fading in these last few weeks. Even though Saquon Barkley started to show signs of life, and Drake Maye was balling out, when your opponent drops 200 points, you gotta give it up. Hats off, Anthony. Close again, but no cigar.

The Championship Preview: Greg vs Graham

The Red Hair Rivalry is back!

In one corner, we have Graham Spiller. Does he have championship pedigree? Absolutely not. But what he does have is Puka Nacua, who just put Greg on notice with a massive 44-point performance. Add to that, he's got a top 5 running back with James Cook, and Trevor Lawrence & Ashton Jeanty (who are trending in the right direction). As we all saw, this is a roster that can blow up for a big number and bury you before Sunday afternoon.

In the other corner, we have Greg Cameron. He's been here before. Many times, actually. Will this be his time to finally get off the schneid? Or will he continue to collect silver on the shelf? He has plenty of help. He's rostering the #1 running back in Christian McCaffrey, the guy who just bailed him out on Monday night and has been his anchor all season. He's got the #1 receiver in JSN, who continues to deliver. On paper, this is a championship team, but can they deliver when the trophy is on the line?

No matter which way the ball bounces, by this time next week, one of these Brumbagh roommates is about to etch his name into 440 history.

No more knocking on the door. It's time to kick it down.

Championship Week is here.

$10 Commish Bonus is up for grabs this week. Type in your pick for the champion and the total combined points. I will need at least 5 entries for this to be a contest.
